Sometimes resilience needs a little help.

Dr. McLain’s Therapy Approach

I understand the importance of finding a therapist you can trust. I offer a supportive, respectful, and empowering environment for clients and encourage risk taking to foster resilience. I aspire to help clients live the life they choose and to leave therapy as they build their confidence. I help clients build a better relationship with themselves and others, connect spiritually, and heal old wounds in order to be present in life. I help clients establish treatment goals to make lasting changes that are in line with their values. While I encourage clients to utilize therapy as long as necessary, I am very intentional to ensure they are not in therapy indefinitely.

I utilize a blend of Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Interpersonal Process Therapy, Attachment Theory, Exposure Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy techniques tailored to clients and couples and their presenting issues. I am Health at Every Size (HAES) informed and emphasize overall health and wellness with eating disorder clients. I am trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy for those with trauma and PTSD. In addition, I have experience with traditional Addiction Models, Harm Reduction Models, and SMART Recovery substance use and addiction models.
