Meet Dr. McLain…
A native Californian, I grew up and went to college in Southern California. While I loved my home, I have always had a desire to travel, live in other places, and explore this world. My graduate education took me up north to the San Francisco Bay area where my clinical work began. I worked with adults with chronic mental health issues, children and adolescents with developmental delays and Autism Spectrum Disorder, emerging adults, and couples. I then made the big move to Georgia for my postdoctoral fellowship working with individuals with eating disorders and other related mental health issues. Enjoying the Atlanta area, I decided to stay in Georgia to start my career.
After I completed my training, I was hired as a therapist at the Renfrew Center working with women and adolescent girls with eating disorders. I was promoted to clinical leadership and eventually administrative leadership in my current position as the Site Director. I have a passion for working with individuals with eating disorders and sharing their hope for the future. I have been able to participate in trainings and speaking events to promote awareness and education about this deadly disorder.
A few years ago I started my private practice to engage in the one-on-one clinical work again and to expand my areas of expertise. I enjoy working with couples, young adults, individuals exploring their gender identity and sexuality, and individuals struggling with trauma and substance use disorders. My goal is to provide a space for clients to feel heard and valued, to build their resilience in a world that can be unforgiving, and to live the life they choose. I am honored to be a part of their journey and hope you will trust me to be a part of yours.
On a personal note, my husband and I enjoy traveling, hiking, reading, kickboxing, and exploring new restaurants. We adopted two adorable kitties during the pandemic (Astra and Nova) who fill our home with laughter and extra love. I try to lead by example and apply strategies to build resilience, engage in self-care, and express gratitude each day.
